Lixin Won Team Bronze Medal on Hong Kong Open Fencing Championships

From December 3rd to 5th, Hong Kong Open Fencing Championships 2016, hosted by Hong Kong Fencing Association, was held in Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Center. 8 athletes from Lixin Foil Team and high-level sports team won 3rd place in male foil team competition. Qiu Chenjie won the 8th place in male foil individual competition and Xu Yundi entered the last 16 in female foil. The competition attracted participation of 438 athletes from 9 countries and regions.  

The athletes from Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance arrived in Hong Kong on December 1st and went for warm-up training to Hong Kong Sports Institute. Coach Lu Jianming introduced competition rules and requirements to the athletes. The athletes trained hard and had practice training under free conditions with Hong Kong teams, thus accumulating practice experience for the competition. During male foil team competition, Lixin team ranked No. 5 among the 16 representative teams, and after two rounds of fierce competitions, successfully entered the semi-finals. During competition with Hong Kong Team 1, Lixin team was defeated by 20:45 and won the 3rd place together with Hong Kong Team 2 in male foil team competition. Hong Kong Team 1 won the champion of male foil team competition. 

The competition has trained our young athlete team, improved practical competition level, provided favorable platform for cultivating reserve talents, demonstrated the spirituality of our athletes and laid sound foundation for preparing for the 2021 National Games.
