Global Business Challenge 2017 Second Division Regional Final

On May 20, the Regional Final of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global Business Challenge 2017 Second Division was held in the Lecture Hall of the Laboratory Building on SLUAF Songjiang Campus. Li Shiping, Secretary of SLUAF Party Committee Office, attended the final and presented his opening speech. Feng Yong, Chief Representative of CIMA in East China and Northeast China, also attended the final and gave his speech. About 500 people watched the final, including the principals of the School of Accounting, the Marketing Communications Department of CIMA, and the Market Development, Education Cooperation and Customer Service Department of CIMA in East China, as well as the faculties and students of the School of Accounting.

Ten teams constituted by students from 11 universities took part in the final, including Zhejiang University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University, Nanjing Audit University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, East China Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an International Studies University, Shanghai Normal University, and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance. The competition kicked off with the splendid and relaxing Gold Abacus Dance, and consisted of four sections, that is, video display, team performance, case analysis & presentation, and defending. The participating teams all conducted in-depth analysis on the cases with unique entry perspective, typical examples and fluent English narrations. After six hours of fierce competition, the 4Seer team of SLUAF finally won the champion, followed by the Furious Four team of Zhejiang University in the second place and the HOTS (Hope of the star) team of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in the third place; winning prizes were granted to the TOP team from Xi'an International Studies University, the O Point team of Shanghai Normal University, the 4WIN of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Synergy team of Nanjing Audit University and Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, the BESTRY team of East China Jiaotong University, the JCQS of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics and the PRIME team of SLUAF; Chu Yinong from SLUAF was also given the Highest Business Potential Award. In addition, the 4Seer team of SLUAF also won the Best Talent Award, and the O Point team of Shanghai Normal University won the Best Video Award. The champion will also be invited to attend the North Asia Final to be held in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The judges of this regional final (Division II) included Yao Wen, CTO of Coca Cola in China & South Korea; Xu Lixi, Senior Financial & Business Support Director of InterContinental Hotels Group in South China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; Chen Yin, Managing Director of GP Capital Co., Ltd.; Huang Xibing, Deputy General Manager and CFO of Legrand Low Voltage Electrical Co., Ltd.; Liao Mingtao, Vice President of Finance of Onesmart; Peng Yong, Executive Director of Shanghai Diamond Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd.; Wang Yin, former Senior Business Manager of Microsoft (China); and Feng Yong, Chief Delegate of CIMA in East China.

The event not only provided an all-English self-presentation platform for all participating teams, but also advocated, encouraged and cultivated outstanding business potential of contemporary university students. It offered an opportunity for students to perfectly digest and skillfully apply their management and accounting knowledge, continuously expand their occupational competitiveness, confidently step onto the job market and grow into business elites leading the future development of the era. The event was the second cooperation between the School of Accounting and CIMA since the founding of the new university, and also represented an important milestone among the global disciplinary competitions undertaken by the School of Accounting of SLUAF.
